As I grow older, I realize just how much I want to share with my children and grandchildren that I haven't. The main thing is the history and stories of my family. I come from a long line of southern, Appalachian women. They included farmers, sharecroppers, teachers, and a mountain granny or two. I always enjoyed listening to their stories, and I long ago realized that those women will never die as long as I remember their what they told and taught me. So, this blog will be tales of the old ways, folklore, mountain craft, recipes, and sometimes there might be a little bit of sass and attitude because that's just how Granny rocks. (I come by it honestly.)
Southern Granny
Join Granny for mountain lore and tales from a southern mountain family that moved to the big city (population 6,300).

Let's get started... Why?
If you know and/or follow me, then some of this may seem familiar. Several years ago, a friend and I started a blog together and some things were published there. When she became ill, and subsequently passed away, I let that blog lapse.
Besides, some of this stuff is pretty good, so others may find it interesting as well.
One more thing I'll say -- I'm losing my vision, so don't be surprised to see mistakes, grammatical errors, etc. They drive me crazy! However, I'm learning to do the best I can with what I have. That's the mountain way after all.
